A new deal between Nokia Siemens Networks and Hunan Telecom sees Nokia Siemens Networks increasing DSL deployment as it expands its cooperation with Hunan Telecom, a subsidiary of China Telecom. Through the expansion contract, Nokia Siemens Networks will support Hunan Telecom in boosting network capacity and preparing for future VDSL2 development.
Under the contract, Nokia Siemens Networks will provide its DSL access solutions to an additional two cities in Hunan province, in central China. This will increase the reach of Nokia Siemens Networks-supplied DSL access to over one million end users in nine cities throughout Hunan.
“Our cooperation with Nokia Siemens Networks and its parent companies goes all the way back to 1986,” said Zhang Fanming, General Manager of Planning Unit, Hunan Telecom. ”Nokia Siemens Networks’ DSL solution not only helps us to optimize our current DSL network, but also prepares our broadband service for offering a high variety of subscriber interfaces to TDM, Carrier Ethernet, VoIP, DSL, CATV and fiber systems. The flexibility and reliability of Nokia Siemens Networks’ DSLAM solutions, combined with our long-standing cooperation, made Nokia Siemens Networks the obvious choice for this new supply contract.”
